2008 Winterschool Agent Trainings on Outdoor Water Conservation

Alternative Water Sources for Landscape Irrigation

Instructors: Rose Mary Seymour and Frank Henning

This course discussed alternative water supply options for outdoor irrigation of landscapes. The topics included capturing rainwater and air conditioning condensate, using graywater and reuse water. The rainwater and condensate sources are not currently under any regulatory guidance, but the graywater and reuse water sources are regulated by the state and in some cases through local ordinances. Find out what you need to know for each of these options for landscape irrigation water supply.

Banner Program on Water: Resources for Outdoor Watering

Instructors: Maria Bowie, Rose Mary Seymour, Frank Henning and Mark Risse

This training introduced county agents to the newly developed resources for the Water Banner Program. Agents learned about the resources developed to educate citizens about conserving water with landscape watering and irrigation and how to promote the Water Banner Program in their county.

Ornamental Irrigation Management

Instructors: Frank Henning and Rose Mary Seymour

Basic principles and state of the art equipment for landscape irrigation were presented with some hands-on activities to demonstrate some equipment capabilities. The participants came away with a better understanding of the variety of irrigation equipment available and how different kinds of equipment have to be managed differently for efficient irrigation results.
