Guido Gardens

Tucked away in the little town of Metter, Georgia is a garden made for quiet contemplation, meditation and prayer that also provides a bit of respite for travelers along I-16. Relatively small in size, the garden is full of incident and interest. It is designed around Christian biblical themes, which is appropriate since the garden serves as headquarters for the Guido Evangelistic Association. There is an splendid, tiny chapel built in a modern architectural style. Streams and waterfalls run through the garden amid extensive azaleas, shrubs, pine, palms, flowers and vines. The garden was designed by Roger Davis of Augusta and the original plants were donated by McCorkle Nurseries of Dearing. Take I-16 to exit 204; the garden is 2 miles from the exit in downtown Metter. Get directions and take a virtual tour at www.guidogardens.com.
